Beacon, NY has a few fishing spots to take advantage of. The first is Riverfront Park right at the Beacon Train station. There’s a small parking lot near the basketball courts and plenty more parking at the Beacon train station. There’s a lot of water access all around the peninsula, but you want to get to the furthest point to gain access to the deeper channels.

From Riverfront Park, you can have access to Long Dock Park and then Denning’s Point. Long Dock Park is a Scenic Hudson Park while Denning’s Point is part of the Hudson Highlands State Park.

The Bleachery is an area on the lower Wappingers Creek which was home to old textile manufacturing and Dutchess Bleach Works. The water that flows from Wappinger Lake through a Hydro Electric Plant is dumped into the lower creek which extends out to the Hudson. This tributary is home to many large fish. Anglers each year line up on the bridge pictured above and along the banks in hopes on catching Striped Bass as they look to spawn in the area. Esopus has a few areas, fairly close to each other which provides access to the Hudson River. The first is the Esopus Lighthouse Park which is located near the southern end of River Road. There is a small parking area and access to the river just a short walk from your car. However, be warned that there is not much space for many anglers. This area provides much more access to the shore, but you will want to walk further down the path to reach deeper water. When the water is at low tide, its not recommended to fish the area as the water can be extremely low. Find directions here
